How we started
Nicholson River Soaps was created by myself, Bianca, after realising my passion for making beautiful nourishing soaps, was becoming ever so popular with friends and family and noticing a niche for locally sourced (where possible), quality handmade soaps.
So i took my products to the local markets in East Gippsland, Victoria, and was pleasantly surprised with the feedback i was receiving.
From there i went onto make sheepmilk soaps which were also received with great enthusiasm from my local customers.
My little hobby was growing from strength to strength when i received a phone call oneday from a local breeder of Riverine Water Buffalo located at Giffard West in Sth Gippsland, Victoria.
Bryan Jans from Sunrise Plains Buffalo Farm
asked if i would be interested in Buffalo milk to make soap with as i already make weird funky things with goat and sheep milk. ( his words !!)
Without hesitating i jumped at the chance knowing that there was no other soapmaker using buffalo milk in Victoria to my knowledge.
Just so you understand my excitement with hearing this offer i will tell you why this made my day.....
The higher the fat content in milk the more hydrating and nourishing it is for your skin.
Goat Milk 3-4% fat per 100gms
Buffalo Milk 8-9% fat per 100gms
Buffalo Milk has more than THREE times as much FAT in it than goatsmilk!
Super moisturising, leaving your skin feeling silky soft.
So i now specialise in Goat & Buffalo milk soaps, providing relief for many people across East Gippsland and afar from conditions including eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and dry itchy skin.
AVAILABLE NOW - CAMEL MILK SOAPS!!!!!
There's something for everyone, from all natural with no colours or fragrances, to soaps scented with pure essential oils.
I colour my soaps using natural clays, charcoal, cacao powders and i like to incorporate organic herbs and flowers as much as i can.
Hope you enjoy looking around my site, our soaps are also available for sale at local markets, retail shops and direct from the farm gate in Nicholson.
Check out our Facebook page to keep track of where we will be on the weekend at the local markets.
